Early childhood care and education was introduced to help parents better understand their children’s developmental skills; by this we mean their motor and cognitive skills coherently. The programme aims at exploring the child’s learning and developmental capabilities, as well as it builds a stronger foundation of the skills that they possess. This programme is vital as it allows the child to build and form new relationships with their peers and family members rather than be quiet and shy. Secondly, exposing the child to various stimulants encourages them to ask more questions for a better understanding of how the world works.

Apart from that, it is important for the child to be able to differentiate what is right and wrong, as these days there are increasing events of children being abused and neglected by adults. In most of these cases, the child is unable to speak up because of fear of their parents and their lack of education. Hence, this will help curb and reduce the incidence of child abuse in the country because the child will have moral and ethical values inculcated.

This level of education has been emphasised by the education authorities in many countries around the globe. Parents should be responsible to enroll the child for early childhood education, so that the transition into primary school will be much easier for the child. The child will be able to cope better in school and they will be able to do well in their exams. This in turn will improve the socioeconomic development of the country. In a nutshell, early childhood education and care is necessary for the improvement of the child in every way. Apart from the preschool teachers, parents should be involved in their child’s development in order to create a conducive environment for the child and improve the understanding between the parent and child.

The world today dictates specialization. It dictates the pursuance of different careers.

In order to have a career today, you need to pursue and finish an education degree. Pursuance of education degree today is a matter of personal choice not like in the past where the society is the one that determine the education degree to pursue.

Education degree is any of a wide range of awards made by institutions of higher education such as universities and colleges, normally as the result of successfully completing a program of study.

Education degree can also be defined as a title bestowed upon a student on the fulfillment of certain requirements or as an honor to an eminent person.

Originally, there were only a few types of degrees offered. Today, different academic institutions grant approximately one thousand five hundred types of degrees.

There are six categories of education degree: associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, doctoral degree, foundation degree, law degree and master’s degree.

Associate degree is a degree awarded by community colleges, junior colleges and some bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study equivalent to the first two years in a four-year college or university. It is the lowest in the hierarchy of academic degrees offered.

A bachelor’s degree is usually an undergraduate education degree awarded for a course or major that generally lasts for three or four years. Today, the most common undergraduate degrees given are the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and the Bachelor of Science (B.S.).

The doctorate degree is an education degree of the highest level. Traditionally, the award of a doctorate implies recognition of the candidate as an equal by the university faculty under which he studied.

Foundation degree is a vocational qualification. It is similar in level to the associate’s degree. Foundation degrees intend to give a foundation in a subject that enables the holder to go to employment in that field.

Law degrees are composed of degrees that focus of the study of laws, constitution and other subject regarding government and politics. Examples are Bachelor of Law, Candidate of Law, and Doctor of Law etc.

A master’s degree is an education degree usually awarded through completion of a postgraduate or graduate course of one to three years in duration.

To be in an education degree, it is necessary to comply with the requirements of different colleges and universities.

In choosing the education degree to take up, it is necessary to assess one self. Choosing an education degree is tough. A person should consider his interest and like. The capabilities should also be considered because it is very important in different careers.

Modern technology is changing and it is also changing peoples’ expectations with it. No more must people expect to follow their parents into a career when they are 16 to stay in that career or trade for the rest of their life. Now it is never too late for a change of direction and there is no reason to settle in a rut if you really want to get out of it.

Never before have this many opportunities been available. Cheap flights have made far flung travel a tangible reality for more people, medicine and science are seeing breakthroughs every day and more people are now going to university than ever before.
Why is it that some people still feel they should not allow themselves access to all these opportunities when they are so within their grasp.

Take education for example. More and more people are taking online courses to further their appeal to employers or gain knowledge that would help to expand their business.

UK universities are expensive and the time it takes to complete a BA Hons degree is sometimes worth more time and money than mature students have got. Universities and educational bodies have spotted this gap in the market and are clamouring to fill it with accredited online degree courses aimed specifically at this hole in the market.

The benefits of this are not just for the people teaching the course but for the students who will further their career and confidence with a degree or masters under their belt. It is also a wonderful opportunity for countries economies at large to encourage higher learning and earning potential for its residents.

With the internet now widely available the possibilities it brings are huge. Online universities are a lifeline for adult education and open plan learning websites such as Kaplan are paving the way for the new education revolution.

If you would like a degree and think that improving your academic achievements could also improve your quality of life then it is worth taking the time out to do a little bit of online research. Websites of online universities are helpful and informative, usually providing you with the opportunity of ordering a prospectus of the university in the post and also to download online onto your home computer. There will also be numbers that you can call so that you can speak to a course advisor in person if you prefer that to e-mails. Any questions that you need answering can be resolved and if by the end you don’t like what you hear then there is no obligation to sign up.

One of the most common types of distance learning courses is e learning courses, or online courses. In these courses, all the information is provided to students online. While this may sound simple, it invites several problems, the most prevalent of which is miscommunication. Because all the course information is posted online, it means that there is no opportunity for spoken instruction or clarification, only text. This aspect of distance teaching is difficult for many instructors because you have to be able to write instructions and course material that can only be interpreted the way you intended when you wrote it. There is nothing more discouraging for a student or teacher than having an assignment be misconstrued. Because of this aspect of e learning courses, many teachers get frustrated and rely only on the traditional classroom to make a living.

Email communication can also be a source of irritation when administering e learning courses. For students, a teacher who doesn’t promptly respond to email can affect their performance and attitude toward the class. Many teachers also have difficulty with emails from students that are unclear and, at times, may sound rude. The necessity to communicate through email always creates some unique problems, especially in an educational setting.

Another distance teaching format that presents some challenges is televised classes or Live Interactive Television. Because there may not be any actual students in a room to give visual clues to the teacher, teachers may feel like they are speaking to a brick wall. Teachers commonly rely on the reactions of students to determine if they need to clarify a point or if someone has something to add, or if students just plain disagree with what was said. Although students taking Live Interactive Television courses can respond, students watching televised courses may not be able to watch a lesson for several days after it was recorded. This delay means they cannot ask questions and must rely on email or calling a teacher for clarification, which is much more difficult than simply raising your hand in class and quickly reviewing the material or instructions.

For the most part, aspiring teachers probably do not envision themselves getting involved in distance teaching, but as distance learning becomes more popular, there will continue to be an increase in the demand for distance teaching positions.

Online education is the latest trend in alternative education choices. Also known as distance learning, options in online education are being pursued by people from all over the world who are looking to further their education. And it’s never been easier to join the growing class of Internet U.

Whether you’re interested in simply getting your GED or receiving your MBA from an accredited university, your options in adult education have doubled in the past five years with the advent of online education and will likely continue to grow as more colleges, universities, graduate schools, and trade schools begin offering distance learning classes online.

How Does Online Education Work?

In most cases, it is not the specific college or university that runs the online education portion of their program. Most schools outsource their internet education duties to companies that specialize in hosting distance learning classes. These companies (who have names like eCollege, SkillSoft and such) perform the actual tasks of running the online classes, assigning work, and conducting exams, all according to the curriculum provided by the specific school. Students that enroll in online education courses are typically required to provide their own computer and any necessary software needed to participate in the online classes and take the exams. In the world of online education your books, binders, and number two pencils are replaced by a PC (or MAC – but compatibility may vary), a word processor, and some form of multimedia player. Broadband internet access is advisable as well. It may be hard to get your masters with low baud.

Things to Look Out For

Online education is a very worthwhile trend in the evolution of education in our world and it is conceivable that sometime in the future nearly all official education will take place online. The internet, however, is the real-world equivalent of George Lucas’ Mos Eisley Spaceport; a wretched hive of scum and villainy. As online education becomes more prominent, there will be more companies looking to take advantage of the trend by offering sub par classes and fly-by-night degrees from non-accredited schools. Before you commit to any online education program, do your homework and make sure that the school is accredited. The last thing you want to do is spend your time and money earning a degree online that isn’t worth a byte in the job market or to other educational institutions.

U.S. News University Directory provides everything you need to increase your earning potential with a online education, online degree program, or traditional on-campus degree. Search Associate’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s and MBA degrees, Doctoral and PhD degrees, and even certificate programs well.

From birth to five years old, babies are learning language at an amazing rate. This includes any language. It can be spoken language, sign language and even written language.

Babies are able to learn to read effortlessly and easily from birth through 3 years old using the whole word method. Not only are they able to learn to read, they learn to read intuitively as opposed to those of us who learn to read much later by learning the rules of the language.

This means that babies absorb language in the written form and the brain figures out the rules on its own. The incredible thing about teaching babies to read using the whole word method is that they learn the rules on their own and are able to use them to read words they have never seen.

When you teach a baby to read, you don’t need to spend a lot of time teaching, they learn at lightening speed and they are able to read fluently almost overnight. They are able to read well and they generally are able to read more quickly and with a higher level of comprehension than children taught at an older age.

Babies that are taught to read develop a love of reading that lasts a lifetime. When they are being inquisitive and want to know that answers to many things, we can point out the books that will give them those answers. We teach them from a young age to find information from books, giving them the ability to learn for a lifetime.

Many people love learning languages or would like to learn a language and use their language skills in a job. In today’s global economy the demand for language skills continues to grow as governments, businesses and organisations build relationships with foreign interests.

1 MAKE THE FULLEST USE OF YOUR MP3 PLAYER.

If you have one and you’re not using it for language acquisition, you’re losing an opportunity for gaining in fluency. You can record snippets of vocabulary or grammar instruction whenever you have a few moments of free time, or pages and pages worth when you’re at your leisure. Then, during times that would otherwise be wasted – washing up, lying dozing in bed, going for a walk – you can play it back and simultaneously be improving your language skills.

2 DUAL TEXT BOOKS

What a wonderful thing dual text books are. Often novels or short stories, these books have one facing page in, say, Spanish, and the other in English. This speeds progress through the book and aids idiomatic comprehension enormously. Sadly the stock of dual texts is limited. However the same effect can be achieved by obtaining two copies of the same book, one in your chosen language and the other in English. It takes a little more juggling this way, but can still have a very beneficial effect on reading comprehension.

3 GET YOURSELF A NATIVE SPEAKER PENPAL

In the age of the internet this is something that’s increasingly easy to do. Check out Livemocha.com or one of numerous alternatives currently available. Your French/German/etc. improves, your penpal’s English improves, everybody wins.

4 SIMULATE LANGUAGE IMMERSION AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE

‘Immersion’ is the catchphrase, the most popular concept amongst language course providers and teachers at the moment. And it’s a good one: the trouble is we don’t all have the money, time or resources to dump everything and go live in our country of choice for six or eighteen months.

5 USE YOUR HOLIDAYS TO THE MAX

This is another point related to the ideal of immersion. Often when learning a language we will book a holiday in the relevant country, and think hopefully of all we will achieve in terms of language acquisition as a result. As you may know, this does not always pan out!

With such an explosion of growth and need, the use of technology has not always been positive. Problems have plagued the use of technology in higher education classes throughout the country. Many people within the system see five major trends that will affect the future of technology/distance learning. The following is a list these current trends in higher education:

•Growing population of students enrolling combined with inadequate infrastructure (faculty, administration, buildings, etc.)

•Changing student needs (lack of time and need for flexibility are foremost)

•Instruction altered to more student centered, non-linear, and self-directed (needed in order to meet the diverse academic needs of students)

•Necessity of lifelong learning classes

•knowledge and competency of students in the use of the Internet

All of these trends can be traced back to distance learning. Higher education institutions need to take action now, in order to enhance their distance education programs.

There are ways in which schools can meet the current trends through distance education. One way is to provide more help through Student Services. By encouraging the use to of help desks at schools, students will have their needs assessed and met. Some campuses have found the creation of a centralized website for the school to be beneficial.

The website has given future and current students access to information quickly. The majority of the states have become a part of statewide coordinating board or consortium of distance education learning programs. These boards/consortiums have provided support, financial sources, evaluation procedures, and the establishment of clear missions for distance learning education courses throughout the states. All of these efforts work toward the goal of implementing valid distance learning programs.

The key to the future of education is online distance learning, but only if continued research and the development of quality programs persist. By examining current trends, campuses will be better equipped to meet the needs of today’s student.

1. Write down your strengths and weaknesses. The key here is to BE HONEST. What do you honestly love about teaching? Many teachers quickly forget their passions and what they love to do BEFORE they lock themselves in a specific teaching approach. Then, they are miserable because they don’t enjoy the teaching approach as they manage a class. But more often, they become easily stressed by the classroom management piece and which also takes away the FUN of teaching.

2. Match your teaching approach to the ages of the students you teach. This will make a significant impact on the children you’ll teach. Remember, the lower the grade level, the more interaction you will need to provide. So choose wisely! If you aren’t sure, read other teacher blogs, websites and articles to get a feel of teaching for this particular age group in terms of combining classroom management with effective instruction.

If you can’t find any experienced teachers to follow online – then look for workshops or in-service courses in your school district(s) who can show you sample approaches of the age groups you are interested in teaching. For example, don’t simply gather information if you want to become a successful and confident teacher. Find out what it takes to also teach successfully.

3. Keep an open mind. Finding your own teaching approach is largely a process of experimentation as you adjust and readjust your instruction. But most importantly, you need to adjust your instruction to suit the needs and abilities of your students. For example, if your students are digital learners, find ways to incorporate technology in the classroom even if it is on a smaller scale.

4. Add additional ways of engaging your students that suit your personality and style. This will help you cater to different learning styles and appeal to different levels of instruction. (differentiated instruction)

5. Consistently, evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching approach. If you are not successfully engaging students, chances are, you need to be more flexible in terms of suiting the needs of your students and be more intuitive to your own teaching style as well. Some new teachers, become particularly frustrated and burnt out by many unsuccessful lessons and many more, decide to leave teaching altogether. Way before this starts to happen, a teacher trainer can provide guidance and direction as to how new teachers can maximize their (limited) resources to benefit their teaching and students. Consider this option before you experience any signs/symptoms of early burn-out.

6. Don’t give up! A few unsuccessful teaching experiences are NOT reasons for failure. If anything, they are only setbacks which occur to ALL teachers. What’s more important, is to recognize those setbacks learn and grow from these experiences. Constantly think BIGGER all the time as you learn how to adjust and readjust your instruction to suit the needs of your students. Experiment with new activities and ideas. Keep your teaching fun and education for you and your students!
